SPIDER-MAN! We finally get to see Spider-Man, but I will get to that. Remember, this is primarily a fight between Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). This trailer has been a long time coming, and we are just 7 weeks away (the perks of being in the UK) until the MCU storms back into the cinema. Kicking off Phase Three with possibly one of the biggest films they have ever made, Marvel are looking to really bring the fans in with such an epic picture. Though this will be primarily a Captain America movie, the excitement from this trailer really does come from the expansion of the other players. So, let’s have a deeper look at the trailer.
SPIDER-MAN IS HERE
Well this is the biggest point in the trailer. After many months of speculation and many doubts, we finally get to see Spider-Man make his debut into the MCU. With just the brief few seconds that Tom Holland gets to show his take on the character, it looks like this will be a truly faithful adaptation. The expressive eyes is truly new (well, Deadpool uses it too. But come on, Spider-Man came first) and the suit looks like it has been brought up to date and kept to its original look. With just a quick bit of agility and a few words, we have lots to look forward to when the film comes out.
THE AVENGERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR HOW MUCH DAMAGE?
It’s true that the MCU has seen a fair amount of destruction in its time. Whether it was the crumbling remains of New York, Washington covered in pieces of helicarriers or even blowing up a whole country! We will truly see the effect that The Avengers have made on the world. It should be argued that things could have been worse without the heroes, but there now seems to be a need for balance. I reckon this will not be the end of that damage, and General Ross is brought in to prove he is a character we can all love to hate AGAIN (Yes I thought William Hurt was great in THE INCREDIBLE HULK).
WHERE IS ZEMO?
With only about two seconds of Crossbones making his hard-hitting return, we have yet to see the supposed main villain in this movie. Where the film is centrally focused on the clash of ideologies of Captain America and Iron Man, we have also been told that there will still be traditional villains making an appearance. The return of Crossbones is very much evident, but we have not seen a thing on Baron Zemo yet. What will his presence bring to the film? Will he be kept back to make a more major appearance later? We will find out in the near future. With all that is already going on, can we get anymore characters in?

BLACK PANTHER DOESN’T TAKE S**T FROM ANYONE
It is quite clear that T’Challa/Black Panther will be brought in strong for his MCU debut. Chadwick Boseman, much like Tom Holland, will be watched carefully by fans and will be hoping he makes for a great debut. Though little information is available for his part in the film, it is clear that he has picked a side and seems determined to fight for what he believes (and seems particularly interested in Bucky). His suit is made of Vibranium, the same material which Cap has for his shield. So…don’t F**K with T’Challa!
THERE ARE A FEW LINKS TO THE ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR STORYLINE
We may not be getting a straightforward adaptation of the 2006 storyline, but there are still a few things that have translated over. The idea of having an act which monitors the activities of the heroes is definitely still in full force. Though we have no real hidden identities in the movie, I reckon we will see a radical change as Spider-Man will definitely be a central force and maybe the key to the films conclusion. Also, there seems to be a big fancy prison for those who will step out of line, but probably not in the negative zone.
IT IS CLEAR THE MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE WILL BE CHANGED FOREVER
We are set to see years of work bringing this team together about to fall apart. Before we head into the mystic realm, back into space and to dimensions beyond human reach, we will see a huge shake-up on the central playing field. With Captain America leading a rebellion and some potential deaths along the way, we will see the hugest change in the film universe since S.H.I.E.L.D. was taken over by HYDRA. Also we will see the end of the Captain America “trilogy” and possibly a turning point for all the characters. And what of those who aren’t in this film? We will see what happens to Hulk, Thor, Nick Fury and many more later in Phase Three.
WHERE DO SPIDER-MAN, BLACK PANTHER AND THE AVENGERS GO NEXT?
We know that July 2017 will see Spider-Man in a solo film set in this universe, and what affect will be bestowed upon the web-slinger after the Civil War is over? Will he be angry? Will he be driven away from The Avengers? It is hard to say at this time. Also, Black Panther will arguably get a great chance to shine when his film comes in 2018. We will get to see more of Wakanda and expand our world a bit further than the USA. Then there is the Infinity Wars, we will need to bring everyone back together to take on their biggest ever threat. But if a death or two is on the cards, can we be sure the new editions will be able to step up and fulfil their destiny as Avengers 3.0 (And then see the new Avengers take phase four and keep the franchise fresh).
Captain America: Civil War will be in cinemas in the UK from 29th April 2016 and US from 6th May 2016.
